The 2027 sheet is fully dated. The undated one has days 1 to 31 and a blank space for the year, so it fits any year.

How the sheet is laid out

A year-at-a-glance planner puts all twelve months on one page, so you see the shape of the year at once — the busy months, the quiet stretches, the gaps between trips.

  • 12 columns, one per month. January to December, left to right: a 12-month planner on one page.
  • 31 rows, one per day. Each cell has the day number and a two-letter weekday (Mo, Tu, We…); weekends are shaded light gray.
  • Light and ink-friendly. Thin lines, no heavy fills, and only a small planyear.online footer at the bottom.

Why months run in columns

Down a column you read a month; across a row, the same date all year. A column also fills up visibly, so a crowded June shows before you add to it. It’s the layout of the PLANYEAR board, where every month is a column too.

How to use a year planner

  1. Start with what can’t move. Birthdays, public holidays, school breaks, booked trips. Plan everything else around them.
  2. Draw the big blocks. A move, a renovation, a busy season at work — run a line down the days they take.
  3. Give each month one or two goals. Not ten. Write them on the month’s first day.
  4. Use color on purpose. One highlighter for trips, one for deadlines, one for people. More is noise.
  5. Review at the end of every month. Cross out what didn’t happen and move what still matters to the next column. A task that keeps moving tells you more than any list.

Printing tips

  • A4, landscape, “Fit to page” (also called “Fit” or “Scale to fit”), so the printer’s margins don’t clip the outer columns. On US Letter it shrinks slightly and nothing is cut off.
  • A3 for the wall. The planner is vector and stays sharp at any size; bigger cells give more room to write.
  • Paper. Plain 80 g/m² is fine for the desk. For a sheet on the wall all year, use heavier matte paper, around 120 g/m².

The same year, online

Paper is great until plans change. PLANYEAR, a free online year planner, keeps this layout — twelve month columns plus Unsorted for things without a month — and lets the plan move:

  • Drag a task from March to May instead of crossing it out; mark it yellow, red or purple.
  • Date it and see the weekday, the days left and whether it’s a public holiday in your country.
  • Tick off tasks in the calendar ✓ and set them to repeat.
  • Open it in a browser on your computer and phone: it syncs, and your data is encrypted before it leaves the browser.

It also covers what paper can’t — projects, income and spending, assets, a wish list — as a life dashboard. Free, and you can try the demo without signing up.

Printable planner FAQ

Is the printable year planner really free?

Yes. Both PDFs are free to download and print, with no account and no email address.

Can I print it on A3?

Yes. It’s vector, so it scales up without blurring: choose A3 and “Fit to page”.

Is there a 2026 or 2028 version?

The dated sheet is for 2027 only. For any other year, take the undated year planner: write in the year and, in a non-leap year, cross out February 29: the other missing days are already hatched.

Can I fill it in on a computer?

The PDF is made for pen and paper. To plan on a screen, use the online year planner: the same twelve columns on a computer or a phone, in sync.

Is there a Word or Excel version?

No, only PDF. For a year you can edit, try the online version: tasks move between months with a drag, and there’s no file to keep up to date.
